R&B=Rhythm and blues?


I know this is in the rhh section but I gotta share this with you guys.

First of all, r&b means rhythm and blues.

There was a question earlier that read “Your best r&b song”
And the question asked for some r&b songs you like.
Now like I said, r&b stands for rhythm and blues. So where the hell do people come from with lolli lolli pop that body and cash flow and classify it as r&b? I mean come on. Isn’t r&b stevie wonder, ray charles, and Gladys knight and the pips.

Now this is my question for you…

Since most mainstream hip hop is somewhat tied in w/ r&b, is it basically brainwashing people into thinking that artists like 3 6 mafia and lil wayne are actually R&B music?

I mean come on how could these people be so fucking retarded into thinking that RAP MUSIC is tied in w/ R&B?

    OK your the stupid one here. No one said Lil’ Wayne was R&B. There is a Billboard chart tho that’s called R&B/Hip-Hop, so Hip-Hop and R&B songs are on that same chart. THat could confuse some people. But, R&B is like Mario, Usher, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, J. Holiday.

    R&B is THE most complicated genre. The definition changes each decade. So you can’t blame people for saying Lollipop is R&B, cause today R&B pretty much means hip hop beats with singing. Even the music of Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder sound nothing like Arthur Crudrup and Chuck Berry, who were some prominent R&B artists of the 40s-50s.

    I agree with Serg. Most mainstream music nowadays ties in with everything and people will listen to just about everything.
    Good quality music is no longer on top. It went down underground just like rap.
