Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

I am in middle school and I play the guitar. I play rock, rhythm, and blues. I have take one lesson a week and I have taken 5 so far. By the time I get my guitar (in December) I will have had about 22 private lessons. I can get a guitar from $300 to $400. I was thinking about and SG G-400. What that be the right brand, and choice? If so, which color? Thx for the help! =)

♥What do you think of this poem?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

I wrote it on a symbolic object [I did it on guitar]; don’t like it all that much. And it’s supposed to be short, so don’t say make it longer lol.

Each strings’ sound is distinct
None are the same
Strum one to hear the guitar sing
High pitch or low pitch, whichever you choose
From rock ‘n’ roll to rhythm and blues
You can play different chords
Hold the guitar’s neck
Strum the first string and press the second fret
Learn each string’s characteristic
Learn how to use the pick
Each strings’ sound is distinct
None are the same
Strum one to hear the guitar sing
Oops, I wrote something incorrect….I have to write a poem on a symbolic OBJECT like something simple and easy…..I will choose different words though and put it back up.

Honest Question About Race and Rhythm?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Most black kids you see have a good sense of rhythm, right? But could it be nurture, not nature? My kids are white (total mutts, part Canadian, part Irish, part Jewish, part Polish, etc…), they exhibit rhythm – they bounce around to music the way you see black kids do, and I honestly think it’s because they’ve been constantly exposed to funk, blues and jazz music since they can remember, because that’s what I listen to. Occasionally we’ll have some AWB, and Steve Cropper played guitar for pretty much every band that recorded on Volt records, so it’s not that the artists are Black, because not all of them are. I think it makes sense that a good sense of rhythm is something ANY person of ANY color or ethnicity will pick up by growing up with Spirit of the Boogie on the stereo in the background, and that you could raise a Black kid with Seals & Crofts playing all the time and he’d grow up with no sense of rhythm at all.
