should modern rock bands have more of a blues inspiration?

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

maybe i’m bias because i prefer classic rock (mainly 60’s & 70’s. but a bit of 50’s & 80’s) over many modern rock (90’s & on), but i feel like there’s more of a soul, more of a good guitar riff when the musician has some love for the blues & their rhythms. & i think it would be great if more bands would do the same.
what do you think?

Is this a good informative speech topic?

Monday, August 4th, 2008

I have to give an informative speech for my public speaking class, which is full of typical college aged students, it needs to be about 5-7 minutes…

I was thinking of talking about Mavis Staples and her new cd. She is an American Rhythm & Blues singer; her songs on the new album “We’ll Never Turn Back” are about the Civil Rights Movement and about the struggles that African Americans of that generation faced.

Anyone out there have suggestions on how I could make the topic more relevant to people ages 18 – 25? Or should I just move on to some other topic?

Any help is greatly appreciated =D
