blues drum question. 4th time asking?

i have a rhythm travelers series drum set from pearl. i want a blues drum sound. what should i add to my set to make it “bluesy”? if this isn’t enough detail than go to my past question. i would have just copied and pasted but last time people complained that it was too much info.

  1. Tom says:

listen to the blues artist you like, try to figure out what they are doing. go to type in “blues drumming lessons” this should get you started. I think the bluesy sound your looking for is in your approach not in the drum set itself.

  2. Wire&String (pro-home recording) says:

umm, nothing. blues generally uses a standard drum set.

  3. XYZ says:

There really is no such thing as a blues sounding drum set. There is a blues style of drumming, but there is no particular blues sound for drums at all, unlike with guitar.

  4. Dr. Basso says:

Blues kits are pretty much standard kits but I suggest, if you want a bluesy sound, try getting a fat-sounding snare. A deep, resounding snare, rather than a tight, high-pitched one would be best. And use sticks with big tips to get a fat bluesy sound.
